We, the Bangalore Food Bloggers had yet another chance to meet. This time, it was organised by Cafe Coffee Day. They invited us for the launch of their ‘Rise and Shine menu’ which is actually their breakfast menu. It was organised at ‘The Square’ on Vittal Mallya Road.
The Square is actually CCD’s first Single Origin Coffee Café. It is specifically designed to serve a variety of single origin coffee brews from around the world. Mr. Ramchander Raman, Head, F &B, Cafe Coffee Day along with Nidhi and Swaha of Madison PR invited us for this event. Thank you people for having us over. Mr. Ramchander actually took some time off to explain about The Square and the concept of single origin coffee. Single Origin Coffee actually means, a particular variety of coffee having a single geographical origin viz. the ethiopian coffee or the Peruvian coffee.
For us Bangaloreans, coffee is life and especially with the kind of weather Bangalore has, you end up being a ‘Coffeeholic’..I was not much of a coffee person, but from the time I landed in Bangalore, it’s been only coffee and that too always at CCD. Be it, an office meeting, client meeting or even an impromptu rendezvous with friends, the venue has to be CCD. Infact, can you beat this! Ravi and I first met in a CCD, so there has been a strange kismat connection between CCD and me. I guess its the relaxed ambience along with lovely aroma of coffee in the air and comfortable seating, that makes you just want to sit there sipping pots ‘n’ pots of coffee. Well, this time the event was at the CCD -The Square. Boy!you have to experience ‘The Square’, extremely chic and classy. Beautifully done up with comfortable seating and lots and lots of sunshine which spruces you up instantly. With the introduction of Breakfast Menu, I’m sure people like me can spend an entire day there:).
Suma, Irin, Deepti, Madhuri and I attended the event. Madhuri and I reached a little late, thanks to the traffic on Bangalore roads. Luckily we had each others company which prevented us from getting frustrated. For the time we made it to the venue, it was more like brunch for us. The ambience of’ ‘The Square’ brightened us up and we were all set to try out the amazing menu. By the way, this whole event was like a ‘Double Dhamaka’ for us, as it was Madhuri’s Birthday..CCD had arranged a nice surprise for her and yes also for us by baking a yummy sinful chocolate cake..lovely isn’t it!! We had a small cake cutting ceremony and Madhuri the birthday girl beamingly cut the cake:)..Best Wishes Dear Mads(as we lovingly call her).
The menu card looked and sounded very tempting. I liked it where they start off by saying ‘ A good morning marks the beginning of a great day, so start yours with sunshine, a smile and our special breakfast menu’….I ‘m totally a breakfast person and for me breakfast has to be wholesome and a little heavy:). CCD had a lovely range for people like me. The breakfast options are from all over the world, from Belgian waffles to croissants, to eggs, muesli, potatoes, muffins etc.
Apart from the normal breakfast options like scrambled eggs, omlettes, fried eggs, they also have a lovely Breakfast spread (veg and non-veg)like, Good Morning America- which is choice of eggs or potatoes or chicken sausage with coffee. They also serve warm waffles with sauce along with a bowl of fruits which is ‘From Europe with Love. Weight watchers need not worry and can opt for ‘Wealth in Health’, which is egg white served with yogurt and a bowl of fruit. I tried an option called the ‘Continental Daybreak’ which had a muffin or a croissant along with muesli and a bowl of fruits. I preferred the croissant to muffin. The platter first of all, looked very very tempting. The croissant was nice and buttery, was just right for the breakfast. All these platters are served with coffee, either a Latte or a hot cappucino. I also happened to taste some Belgian waffles with warm chocolate sauce, tasted divine.
Amongst the range of coffee, they have Rich Colombian brew, Fruity Ethiopian coffee, Peruvian light aromatic coffee. They also have spicy Rajgiri Estate and Araku Valley with overtones of fresh fruit for Indian tastebuds.
I think, it is very nice of CCD, to introduce this Breakfast menu as we’ll get to taste the breakfast options from all over the world under one roof . The idea of introducing the single origin coffee is also nice as we get to know that coffee tastes different in different countries and each has a very unique flavour.
I must thank CCD and Madison PR for having us over and yes, we did have a splendid time. Here’s wishing luck to CCD on their future endeavours.
