I was watching television the other day and I heard, someone recite few lines of a hindi poem in the context of ‘never give up’ attitude. While I was listening I could actually feel my blood surge and I had goosebumps. I thought to myself, ” Gosh! this is the very poem, I learnt in my school days in my hindi Class.” Badi Miss Singh( as we called our hindi teacher) taught us this poem and I still remember how dramatic she would make it for us, so that we could memorise it. We had 2 hindi teachers in our school, badi Miss Singh and choti Miss Singh..Badi and Choti was used to determine the age factor. I think we had one of the best hindi teachers ever, I actually loved hindi because of the way our teacher taught us. I still remember a lot of muhavaras that we learnt in school days.
Since I was so touched by this poem, I decided that I would share it with you. It didn’t make much sense to me those days. It was just another poem we had to learn for exams. Today I understand the relevance and I find it very inspirational.
After I heard it on TV, I actually scouted for it on net and I realised it’s written By Sri Harivanshrai Bachchan (Big B’s Father). It’s a nice read and very motivational. I finally managed to get it and I have it pasted below.
For all the times you feel like giving up, please do spend a few seconds to ponder on this poem. I’m sure it’ll make a difference…Enjoy!!!
KOSHISH KARNEWALON KI HAAR NAHI HOTI- SRI HARIVANSHRAI BACHCHAN
Lehron se Darkar nauka par nahin hoti,
koshish karne walon ki haar nahin hoti
Nanhi cheenti jab daana lekar chalti hai,
chadhti deewaron par, sau bar phisalti hai.
Man ka vishwas ragon mein saahas bharta hai,
chadhkar girna, girkar chadhna na akharta hai.
Akhir uski mehnat bekar nahin hoti,
koshish karne walon ki haar nahin hoti.
Dubkiyan sindhu mein gotakhor lagata hai,
ja ja kar khali haath lautkar aata hai
Milte nahi sahaj hi moti gehre paani mein,
badhta dugna utsah isi hairani mein.
Muthi uski khali har bar nahin hoti,
koshish karne walon ki haar nahi hoti.
Asaflta ek chunauti hai, ise sweekar karo,
kya kami reh gayi, dekho aur sudhar karo.
Jab tak na safal ho, neend chain ko tyago tum,
Sangharsh ka maidan chhodkar mat bhago tum.
Kuch kiye bina hi jai jaikar nahin hoti,
koshish karne walon ki haar nahin hoti.
